United Set To Officially Complain About Referee

In the CIS Insurance Cup, Dundee United were furious after referee Kenny Clark failed to award a stonewall penalty after Carlos Cuellar wrestled Christain Kalvenes to the ground.

Then, this weekend, Craig Levein`s blood was boiling after referee Mike McCurry blundered about the pitch, awarding Rangers every free-kick and decision to prevent Dundee United having any chance of evening taking a draw at Ibrox.

Not surprisingly, Dundee United are to make an official complain about Mike McCurry, after the ineput Scottish whistler waved away a stonewall penalty, chopped off a legitamte Dundee United goal and bottled out of sending off 3 Rangers players.

David Weir should have been sent off for bring down Noel Hunt inside the penalty box, but neither a red card or a penalty kick was forthcoming.

Kirk Broadfoot punched Noel Hunt in the face, while Danny Swanson was having a goal chopped off, after David Weir put it past his own goalkeeper.

Apparently, David Robertson was blocking the goal keepers view, from 40-yards away, despite not even touching the ball and David Weir being the player who put it into the back of his own net.

Then, after not sending off Broadfoot or Weir, McCurry only booked Daniel Cousin for head-butting Lee Wilkie, right infront of him!

It was obvious that referee McCurry didn`t want to go down in the history books as the man who prevented Rangers winning the quadruple, but instead he goes down as the “cheat” who put an end to Dundee United`s hopes of finishing 3rd this season.

After the match, Dundee United manager Craig Levein fumed about the referees performance during the press conference.

“We had a blatant penalty and he bottled it. I thought Mike McCurry had the balls to stand up and give these decisions, but he bottled it,” he complained to the BBC.

“If it’s not a level playing field and, if we don’t get the blatant decisions, important decisions then what is the point of turning up?”

Infact, after Dundee United had their goal ruled offside, when it clearly wasn`t, manager Levein even told Mike McCurry to blow for full-time, because there was no point in playing on if he wasn`t going to referee the game fairly.

Levein continued, “This game was all about Rangers.”

“Not only is it a penalty kick, but it’s a sending off for Davie Weir. He (McCurry) didn’t want to do it, because this game meant so much to Rangers.”

“Anybody who is of a fair mind watching that today would see that we had no chance of winning that.”

After his attack on referee McCurry, its likely that Levein will be called to explain his comments infront of the SFA’s disciplinary committee, but then McCurry should also be called to explain his “in-actions” to the committee!

Last month, McCurry admitted he almost quit after receiving threats from Old Firm fans after he refereed the Rangers v Celtic match.

Most Dundee United and Celtic supporters will be wishing he had hung-up his whistle, because he clearly can’t cut it as an SPL whistler anymore.

He has single handily prevented Dundee United from having a chance of finishing 3rd, and almost gifted Rangers the title… well done McCurry, you`ve earned your Bluenose bonus this season!

so glad to hear Dundee United are to make an official complaint against McCray’s mishandling of their match today ,, this cannot be ignored any longer and I,m certain they will have the backing of the other ten teams in the league at whatever level is required ……

The way Hearts have always had when they’ve “questioned the integrity” of refereeing decisions you mean? Believe it when I see it… but good luck to United.

  • MrH says:

Everyone should be behind United on this – we’ve had to put up with this bias for far too long. As SJ rightly points out though, no-one backed Hearts when they had an equally strong case – what happens next will tell us a lot…..

  • StockportJambo says:

With people like you as fans willboy, it’s a wonder Rangers aren’t more liked.

  • willboy1873 says:

Aye very good! hows the bottom six by the way! how many years is it before use win the champions league again!!!! and its teams like use and dundee utd and hibs who give scottish football a bad name! use are mince and the quicker we go to the premiership the better

  • StockportJambo says:

Haha… they don’t want you either bhoyo. 🙂

  • MrH says:

They erra peepell….didn’t you know that SJ?

  • R.K says:

Willyboy you moron if there were no other teams in the league there wouldn’t be a league you clown! Mr.H and SJ, I would have backed Hearts case, although i say that, it would have to depend on the circumstances. Its just i don’t think I’ve ever seen such blatant dishonest, unprofessional corrupt ‘mistakes’ as i did on Saturday. If it was the Andy Davis scenario though, I would have backed Hearts 110%.

  • StockportJambo says:

Cheers R.K, although to be honest, I don’t think of it as “backing Hearts” or “backing Utd”. It’s more about backing a fair and impartial governing body in Scottish football, with referees to match. They all make mistakes, but this is an endemic problem that affects every team in the country and has done since the SFA was formed. I count Celtic in that too, but it’s fair to say that they get their fair share as well – just perhaps not so often against Rangers. We need a radical overhaul, but like I said above, I’ll believe it when I see it.
