Dundee United have turned down a bid from an unnamed English Championship club for striker Johnny Russell.

Meanwhile, another side from the same division have also made an approach without yet submitting a formal offer.

Russell scored twenty goals last season for United despite being sidelined for a couple of months with a fractured fibula.

Chairman Stephen Thompson told the Dundee Courier: “Two clubs have been in touch, and I’ve turned down a bid from one of them. I don’t want to say who they are, because they have behaved impeccably.”

Meanwhile, Thompson is still waiting to hear from Willo Flood and Barry Douglas regarding their intentions for next season.
