Dundee United have agreed a deal to sign goalkeeper Deniz Mehmet.

The 24-year-old secured himself a one-year contract having already appeared for the Tangerines during pre-season.

Kent-born Mehmet includes previous spells with Port Vale, Falkirk, Kayserispor and Welling United, and international representation with Turkey to Under-21 level.

“Once I heard United were interested, I was keen to come up and train,” he told United’s official website. “I know all about the ambition of this Club and I want to help win the title.

“I am here to challenge for the number one jersey and I want to play my part in what will hopefully be a great season for us.”

His arrival could witness former Scottish international Cammy Bell, 30, returning to former club Kilmarnock despite still have a year remaining on his contract.
