Manager Craig Levein has admitted that he isnt in any hurry to spend the £1.25 million that Dundee United received from the sale of captain Barry Robson.

Since Levein now believes he has a strong enough squad to keep up United`s challenge for 3rd spot in the SPL and a European spot in the closing months of the campaign.

The loss of influential midfielder Robson has been compared to the loss of Billy Dodds to Rangers several years ago, after which Dundee United never recovered from losing the club`s top goal scorer and plummeted down the league.

However, Levein seems fairly confident that his current team will be able to cope with losing Robson to Celtic.

“We look forward now and I am comfortable with what we have player-wise. I am quite happy with the squad,” Levein told the Dundee Courier.

“We have a fairly strong squad to get us from now until the summer and we will see what happens then.”

“If you go back over January, we have managed to add Danny Grainger, Danny Swanson, Eric Odhiambo, Mihael Kovacevic, Mark de Vries and now Jim O`Brien.”

“Before today, we had lost Stuart Duff and put David Goodwillie, Marco Andreoni and Greg Cameron out on loan. I think we are in the plus column.”

“Danny Swanson will make a huge impact, as will Mark de Vries. The supporters haven`t really seen them yet and they are two lads who can change games.”

“Craig Conway is available again after long-term injury, while Steven Robb, Jon Daly and Christian Kalvenes are on their way back. We also have Jim (O`Brien) coming in.”

“Not too long ago I looked at our bench and thought, ‘How can I change a game?` Now I believe our attacking options are good.”

“We have people who can step up to the mark, no doubt about that.”
