Peter Houston has revealed that all player recruitment at Dundee United has been placed on hold due to the current financial uncertainties.

It means that any renewal discussions over contracts and possible new signings are being deferred as the club continue to oppose Rangers’ ‘newco’ gaining admission into the SPL.

“We have to hold back. We don’t know what’s going to happen over the next month or so,” Houston explained to BBC Scotland. “I would’ve liked to have brought another player in, an experienced player which I hope to get.

“I was trying to bring in an experienced player to help some of our younger ones, we were speaking and the chairman was keen for that to happen,” he added. “But I can understand fully that we’ll have to go with what we’ve got just now.”
