Dundee United are playing down speculation suggesting that manager Peter Houston’s job is under threat at Tannadice.

The Tangerines are currently struggling third bottom of the SPL table and with only a couple of wins to their credit this season. They also crashed out of the Scottish Communities League Cup this week against first division Falkirk.

“The club have no comment to make on what is simply speculation and rumour regarding the manager’s position,” read a statement issued by the club, reports BBC Scotland. “Everyone at the club is fully committed to Saturday’s game against Dunfermline and trying to get the club further up the SPL table.”

Last season United finished fourth in the division and once more gained entry into Europe. But the Tayside club then lost a number of key players over the summer and at the start of the present campaign, including the likes of Craig Conway, Prince Buaben, Morgaro Gomis and David Goodwillie.
