Dundee United captain Barry Robson made an impressive International debut, after coming on as a 55th minute substitute for Scotland.
Aberdeen born Robson has been a stand-out in the Dundee United squad, since the arrival of manager Craig Levein last November.
Robson became Dundee United`s top scorer last season, and after a number of remarkable performances was touted for a International call-up.
The 28-year-old was called up to Alex McLeish`s Scotland squad for the friendly against South Africa at Pittodrie on Wednesday night.
After 55minutes gone and with the score still goal-less, the talented midfielder replaced Celtic`s Gary Caldwell and almost made a dramatic impact.
Only a minute on the pitch, Robson was almost in on goal, but the ball got stuck under Kenny Miller`s feet, as he tried to play Robson in on goal.
Robson continued to link well with Kris Boyd upfront and received praise for his efforts, as a 71st minute strike from Boyd gave Scotland a 1-0 victory.
Although, it could all have ended so differently, if Robson hadn`t cleared a a Surprise Moriri header off-the-line in the closing stages of the match.
It`s unlikely that Robson will be part of Alex McLeish`s starting line-up against Lithuania (Sep 08th) or France (Sep 12th), but he has at least given himself a chance of a future call-up to the Scotland squad.
