Dundee United’s position suddenly looks much stronger following successive 1-0 home victories over the past few days.

First they denied St Mirren’s midweek hopes of sealing the Championship title when Billy King struck an early winner at Tannadice.

And four days later it was Dutch striker Thomas Mikkelsen getting them off the mark early as they overcame Falkirk by the identical scoreline.

“This was like the game against St Mirren as the team was really, really fighting and I was very pleased by the performance,” manager Csaba Laszlo told BBC Scotland. “After the win against St Mirren I think we saw the team have a spirit and a very good standing if we play good football and it was the same today.

“This was not a fantastic football game but the performance we made today was to try to make Dundee United proud.”

The Tangerines’ hectic schedule continues as they travel to winless bottom-of-the-table side Brechin City on Tuesday evening.
