Dundee United have named Csaba Laszlo as their new manager in succession to Ray McKinnon.

The 53-year-old Hungarian was previously in charge of Hearts between July 2008 and January 2010, recording a third-placed finish in his only full season.

Most recently with Dunajska Streda in Slovakia, Laszlo has also had spells leading the national teams of Uganda and Lithuania.

He arrives at Tannadice on a deal running until May 2019.

“We won’t be asked how nicely we played, we will be asked how many points we collected,” Laszlo told United’s official website. “I don’t like to compare which style of football I want to play. I want success, nothing else.

“To win promotion – that’s why I’m here. I don’t want to step left or right, I only want to go forward. Our target is the Scottish Premiership and that’s all.”

He replaces McKinnon, who was sacked by United in October, with Laurie Ellis remaining as assistant manager alongside the current backroom team.
