Dundee United have received a couple of firm offers for striker David Goodwillie, although neither of them have come from Rangers.

But the £2m asking price for the 22-year-old marksman wasn’t reached in either bid. Rangers had already previously failed with a couple of approaches in January.

Championship outfit Cardiff City are believed to be one of those now responsible after they also signed free agent Craig Conway from United earlier in the week.

Their new boss Malky Mackay is a known admirer of Goodwillie, and has targeted Scotland’s young player of the year after the Bluebirds narrowly missed out on the Premiership last season.

Goodwillie netted eighteen goals last term and also received his first international cap in November. He is contracted to Tannadice until 2013.
