Fourth-placed Dundee United entertain the blue half of Glasgow as crisis club Rangers visit Tannadice for the lunchtime game on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 12.45pm).

Defender Gavin Gunning is available despite suffering a back injury in last weekend’s Scottish Cup quarter-final defeat to Celtic while midfielder Danny Swanson is also in the squad following an extended absence with medial ligament damage.

But Robbie Neilson is suspended having been sent-off against Celtic on Sunday, with Keith Watson expected to step into his place as the hosts look to repeat their recent Scottish Cup victory over Ally McCoist’s side.

“I’ve got great admiration for the guys at Rangers, like McCoist and the players,” manager Peter Houston told BBC Scotland. “I don’t think people realise just exactly what has gone on and how tough it has been.

“We’ll never know but to their credit they’ve done brilliantly throughout it all recently,” he added. “They must take great credit for the way they’ve handled things.”

Rangers have both Dorin Goian and Carlos Bocanegra suspended, with Steven Whittaker, Kyle Bartley, Kirk Broadfoot and Sasa Papac also currently restricted to the sidelines through injury.
