Dundee United discovery Ryan Gauld is keen to uphold the tradition of young talent emerging from Tannadice.

The seventeen-year-old has recently broken into the side and started the last five games, even marking his full senior debut with a goal at local rivals St Johnstone in early April.

Gauld is now hopeful of following the examples of team-mates Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong ? who are both nominated for PFA Scotland’s Young Player of the Year.

“Hopefully I can be where they are in a few years time,” he told the Dundee Courier. “Obviously they’ve been fantastic this season, both of them have been outstanding since the start, and if I’m where they are in a couple of years I’d be happy.

“It’s been a dream getting five starts in a row. It wasn’t really expected but I’ll take it,” Gauld continued. “It’s come quite quickly for me and I’ll just deal with things as they happen.”
