Airdrie United midfielder Gary Mackay-Steven has his heart set upon a dream move to Dundee United.

The former Liverpool youth player is out of contract at Airdrie and has already been the subject of plenty of interest from the SPL – including from Hibernian and St Johnstone.

But it is to Tannadice that the 21-year-old really wants to move following a training spell with the club towards the end of last season.

“My trial with United went really well and I think they’re in talks with my agent,” Mackay-Steven told the Daily Record. “It’s all positive.

“United are definitely my No.1 priority because I really enjoyed my time training with them and I can see myself fitting in there. It would be a great move for me,” he added.

“I think there have been a few clubs sniffing about such as St Johnstone and Hibs. I am determined to get back into full-time football.”
