Dundee United came from behind to record their first league win since December with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Kilmarnock.

Gary Mackay-Steven earned them an early lead that was cancelled out by Alexei Eremenko and Kris Boyd.

However, on loan Curtis Good immediately levelled and John Rankin grabbed a close-range winner six minutes later.

Nadir Ciftci had earlier gone close for the home side with a shot against an upright before Mackay-Steven took advantage of a defensive slip to open the scoring.

Lee Ashcroft soon had a header disallowed at the other end and Mackay-Steven then went close to his second with an effort that flashed marginally wide.

Back came Killie with Radoslaw Cierzniak keeping out Boyd before Jeroen Tesselaar was left frustrated by the woodwork.

Eremenko also threatened as did both Ciftci and Rankin in reply before Keith Watson almost turned in Rankin’s cross.

But five minutes ahead of the break the visitors levelled through Eremnko’s fine strike from distance.

Record goalscorer Boyd was proving lively following the interval with firstly a shot over the crossbar and another charged down.

The former Rangers marksman then gave his side a 64th minute lead when beating the oncoming Cierzniak and Andrew Robertson’s subsequent efforts to clear.

But within a minute home defender Good headed in Mackay-Steven’s corner to dramatically equalise.

Then after Rankin was denied by keeper Craig Samson, the midfielder found the net from close-range with nineteen minutes remaining.

Samson later turned over a fierce drive from Robertson as the action continued for the full duration.
