Dundee United open their new season a day after the rest of the SPL when entertaining Hibernian at Tannadice on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 1pm).

The Tangerines make late checks on a trio of summer signings in Brian McLean, Michael Gardyne and Mark Millar. All three were left on the bench for the midweek 2-2 draw with Dynamo Moscow in the Europa League.

But fellow new arrival, Polish goalkeeper Radoslaw Cierzniak, makes his league debut as the hosts start their new campaign looking to improve on last season’s fourth-placed finish.

“We have got a massive game against Hibs on Sunday and we’re looking forward to it,” manager Peter Houston told BBC Scotland. “I’m encouraged by the start we have had. I’ve always said we have got a small squad but on our day we can beat anybody. The pre-season has gone well, we have built up strongly.”

Hibs have a virtually full squad to select from aside from sidelined winger Danny Galbraith.
