Danny Swanson has revealed that there was never any doubt that he would sign a new deal at Tannadice.

The 23-year-old agreed a two-year contract yesterday that replaces his current one which still had twelve months remaining on it.

And the Edinburgh-born favourite confessed that there was never any question that he would continue his stay.

“There was never any uncertainty about my future because Peter Houston had made clear he wanted me to extend my contract and I am happy at United,” he told The Courier.

“The club first approached me about this in the middle of last season,” he continued. “But I told them I didn’t want to sign anything there and then, I just wanted to concentrate on playing and sort everything out in the summer.

“We’ve been speaking since I got back from holiday and to be honest I’m glad all the talking and mucking about is over. I can’t be done with all that stuff. I just wanted to sign.”

Swanson netted five times in 39 senior appearances last season and originally joined the club from Berwick Rangers two-and-a-half years ago.
