Simon Murray will play in Sunday’s return clash between Dundee United and Hamilton Academical.

The Tangerines have appealed against his second yellow card for simulation in last night’s play-off final at Tannadice.

As that won’t now be heard until Thursday, the 25-year-old marksman can therefore line-up for the promotion decider.

Murray had appeared to be clearly fouled inside the area by Scott McMann with just thirteen minutes remaining of the scoreless encounter. But having earlier been booked he was instead sent-off.

“I can only say I’m very disappointed with the penalty decision,” manager Ray McKinnon told BBC Scotland. “At the time, we thought it was a penalty. We’ve seen it back now and it’s obviously been confirmed there was a penalty.

“We were down to 10 men,” he added. ‘Effectively, we could’ve had a penalty to go 1-0 up, so the whole tie would’ve been different.”
