Striker David Goodwillie said it was great to be back after rejoining Dundee United on loan until January.

The 24-year-old has struggled since leaving the club for Blackburn Rovers two years ago and immediately vowed to make an impact on his return to Tannadice.

“I hope to string together a few good performances for the team. I hope we have good results,” Goodwillie told BBC Scotland. “[I want] to play as many games as possible and stay fit. It’s not all about me. Everyone has been really nice and I hope it continues.”

“Seeing him in training yesterday he’s very fit,” added United manager Jackie McNamara. “He’s hungry to do well for us and get himself back playing football.”

Goodwillie previously struck 40 goals in 136 games for the Tangerines until moving to Ewood Park for a £2m fee in August 2011.
