In-form striker Johnny Russell praised the service being given to him by forward colleague Gary Mackay-Steven at Dundee United.

The 22-year-old has scored five times in his last four appearances while taking his overall tally for the season to nineteen. And Russell was understandably keen to again pay tribute to flying winger Mackay-Steven after setting him up for the winner at Motherwell earlier this week.

“I can’t help but continue to blow Gaz’s trumpet,” Russell told the Dundee Courier. “He is incredible and you want to watch football because of players like him.

“He showed great strength and pace to get into that position for my goal and his through ball was perfect, leaving me with very little to do,” he continued. “I just took one touch, then tried to get my shot away and thankfully I finished it.”
