The SFA should throw the book at Rangers defender Carlos Cuellar this week, after his assault on Christian Kalvenes during the 2nd half of the Scottish League Cup final at Hampden on Sunday.
Rangers undeservedly lifted the trophy 3-2 on penalty kicks, but the game would have been done and dusted if referee Kenny Clark had awarded United a 53rd minute penalty kick after Cuellar`s disgraceful attack on Kalvenes.
Already leading 1-0 after a 1st half opener from Noel Hunt, United looked to be in control of the match when Kalvenes put Cuellar under pressure inside the Rangers penalty area.
Unbelievably, referee Kenny Clark waved play on, after Cuellar grabbed the United defender by the throat and pushed him to the ground.
The incident is unlikely to be mentioned in the referee`s report, so the SFA will be under pressure this week to review the incident and take action against the Rangers player.
The BBC cameras got a clear view of the incident, which was shown on the news as one of the major talking points during the match.
If the SFA don`t take action, then Strathclyde Police should get involved, because it was a disgrace act by Cuellar, which clearly deserves some sort of punishment!

Rubbish, the player threw himself to the ground, he tried to cheat and should have been booked for diving.
lololol not bein biased in any way it was a penalty so this guy sayin hes divin is obv jis lookin to wind up all u lot. use did deserve to win it u wanted it more and it showed throughout the game. duno how u think tht kerr was man of the match in ure poll when flood was head n shoulders above the rest n nevr put a foot rong the whole game. one last thing most of ure pens were terrible so u dont even no if u had been awarded tht pen durin the game u wood hav scored it.

It’s well over the top to suggest someone throws the book at him for what was simply a clumsy foul, not anything more malicious than that. But I feel your pain mate – this is the sort of decision that goes their way most of the time because refs don’t have the bottle to risk getting a decision against the OF wrong. Sad fact of Scottish football really. PS Bud’s comment is comedy but he does have a point in there – the player SHOULD have been booked if Clark doesn’t see it as a foul….
