New signing Scott Severin said that is was the prospect of renewing his working relationship with Peter Houston that brought him to Tannadice.

The Scottish international midfielder signed a two-year deal from Watford only hours before the transfer window finally closed earlier this week. And that means the 31-year-old will once again be working with Houston after the pair were previously together at Hearts.

“I worked with Housty from the age of about 17 when he was my youth coach at Hearts,” Severin told the Daily Record. “So I know him really well and I know Paul Hegarty well too because he was there at the same time.

“I’m delighted to be working with him again and it’s good to work for a manager you know when you join a club,” he continued. “The lads were great this morning and helped me settle. I know most of them already from playing against them over the years.”

Severin appears certain to be selected in a defensive capacity for the Arabs after a long search for cover in that area of the side.

“I’m happy to play wherever the gaffer asks me. The majority of the games I’ve played in the last year have been at centre-half so that’s no problem,” he added.
