Dundee United striker Francisco Sandaza is hoping that his poker skills can help finance the purchase of new insoles for his football boots.

The Spaniard learned recently that one of his legs is longer than the other and was forced to pay out £300 for revolutionary insoles to assist his balance.

And he has since found a rather unique way of paying for it.

“I played poker with Jennison Myrie-Williams, Andis Shala, Damian Casalinuovo, Scott Robertson and Keith Watson on Tuesday and I won the money,” Sandaza told the Daily Record.

“I got £60 for beating Jeno in the final and we are having a tournament every day so hopefully I keep winning.

“I like playing poker, it’s good fun and playing with team-mates is always a good laugh,” he continued.

“We have a lot of time after training so it’s good to get involved with each other and have some fun.”
