Released Dundee United striker Francisco Sandaza has joined Brighton on a free transfer.

That follows the decision to allow him to leave Tannadice by ‘mutual consent’ earlier this week.

The 25-year-old Spaniard has signed a one-year contract with the League One side after a recent failed trial at Swansea City.

“He had a hernia problem last season, and we had to first make sure he had recovered,” Brighton manager Gus Poyet told BBC Sport.

“We also had to wait, as he had options elsewhere, but I am happy everything has worked out. I am looking forward to him scoring goals for Brighton.”
