Dundee United have turned down a confirmed bid from Rangers for top scorer David Goodwillie.

The Tangerines value the 22-year-old marksman at the £2m mark but the SPL champions failed to match it.

Goodwillie scored eighteen times to help his side finish fourth last season. He also received his first international cap in November and has recently attracted interest from Championship outfit Cardiff City.

“We can confirm we have received a bid from Rangers for David Goodwillie,” a United spokesman told BBC Scotland. “The bid has been rejected because it does not meet our valuation.”
