Raith Rovers are still keen on Dundee United striker Kevin Smith even though he journeyed south to join Notts County on trial earlier this week.

Their manager John McGlynn hasn’t yet given up hopes of bringing back their former loan star after he was given permission to talk to interested parties by Arabs boss Peter Houston.

That resulted in his latest move down to Nottingham, although Partick Thistle are also said to be currently monitoring his situation.

The 23-year-old netted eighteen times in 28 appearances during two previous loan spells with Raith.

“Kevin’s been here before, he’s enjoyed playing at Raith Rovers, the fans really took to him, and the dressing room really took to him,” McGlynn told SportsPress at Fife Today.

“But he’s a young lad with big decisions to make,” he added. “He’s on trial at Notts County, and I wish him well, but it doesn’t mean to say he will sign for them.

“I’m sure then that Kevin would consider Raith Rovers, as he’s suggested in the conversations that I’ve had with him … But at the same time he has no obligation to sign for us.”
