Dundee United survived the sending-off of Lewis Toshney while Tony Andreu also missed a penalty in a scoreless encounter at Raith Rovers.

The Tangerines had a chance to win it with fifteen minutes remaining but Andreu was superbly denied from the spot by goalkeeper Kevin Cuthbert.

Defender Toshney had been dismissed ten minutes into the second-half having received a second yellow card.

Former United midfielder Rudi Skacel struck the crossbar for the hosts while their opponents struggled to create meaningful opportunities.

Tope Obadeyi had seen a first-half effort saved and defender Mark Durnan was wide from long distance before Blair Spittal later went close.

But their best opportunity arrived on 75 minutes when Scott Fraser went down under challenge inside the area, only for Cuthbert to rescue his colleagues in fine style.
