Rain Delay To Rangers v United Game?

Unless there is a dramatic change in the weather over in Glasgow, Dundee United will have their 2nd postponed match in under a week.

Torrential rain has turned Ibrox into a mud bath and an 8:30am pitch inspection has been scheduled for Saturday morning ahead of the SPL match.

It is expected that the match will be called off due to an unplayable pitch, meaning another consecutive weekend without a competitive match for Dundee United – following the postponement of last weekend`s Saint Mirren Scottish Cup match due to a flu bug flooring many of the United 1st team squad.

Walter Smith was due to take the reigns at Ibrox for the first time since his return on Wednesday, but the weather seems determined to put a dampener to the start of his 2nd managerial spell at the club.

The rain was continuing to fall in Glasgow for most of Friday afternoon and early evening, meaning that its looking more and more unlikely that match will go ahead.

Airdrie v Dundee in the 1st division has already been called-off, whilst Saint Mirren versus Motherwell is also in danger and a 10am pitch inspection has been scheduled at Love Street as well.

“The club would like to stress that this is only really a pre-cautionary action and are still hopeful of the game going ahead,” said a St Mirren official.
