Dundee United’s latest game with Queen of the South was abandoned at half-time due to a frozen pitch with the scoreline still remaining blank at Palmerston Park.

The visitors had earlier dominated the opening forty-five minutes but without taking any of their chances.

“At the start of the game, the pitch was in good condition but it started to get harder as the temperature dropped,” referee Craig Thomson told BBC Scotland. “A film of frost started to develop and a number of players expressed concerns about turning and stopping. I checked the pitch at half-time and I felt it would only have got worse.”

The Tangerines therefore slip to second in the table as St Mirren edged out Dunfermline Athletic by a single goal elsewhere.
