Dundee United supporters are desperate to see the talented Charlie Miller back at Tannadice, but will Chairman Eddie Thompson agree…

The 30-year-old midfielder is reported to be looking for a move back to Scotland after spending the last 2 years playing for SK Brann Bergen in Norway.

Miller signed for Dundee United on a free transfer in November 2000, but was released by the club in July 2004 after Eddie Thompson decided he couldn`t justify paying the players inflated wages.

A favorite with Dundee United supporters, Miller was influential in the centre of the United midfield and occasionally grabbed a few goals of his own (17 in 109 appearances), but he was too inconsistent and his physical fitness was always in doubt.

Craig Levein is looking to add a few players to his current squad when the transfer window re-opens in January and the talents of Charlie Miller would be a great addition to any team, but could Dundee United afford to pay the wages Miller would want?

The majority of Dundee United supporters think that Eddie Thompson should bring Glasgow born Charlie Miller back to Tannadice – no matter what the cost.

Vital Football Poll

In a poll on Vital Football (Dundee United), over 70% of supporters voted in favour of the midfielder returning to Tannadice, with only 12% voting against it.

Although some supporters didn`t think the club should break the bank to get Miller, with 10% saying he should only return if the price was right, whilst another 3% were concerned that Miller`s mental attitude could make it too risky a signing.

However, there was a further 13% of those polled, who didn`t think it was even up to United supporters and have decided to give manager Craig Levein the benefit of the doubt.

Ultimately, it will be Levein`s decision whether the club would benefit from Miller returning, but Levein is a very demanding manager and might not want such an inconsistent player, despite the overall benefits it would bring to the squad.

The younger players could learn from him, but that could include the bad habits, as well as the good ones, but at least the United supporters would be happy at Miller being back in the squad?
