Manager Ray McKinnon conceded Dundee United weren’t at their best despite a narrow 1-0 victory at Ayr United.

Tope Obadeyi’s sixth-minute effort was though sufficient to extend the visitors’ unbeaten run to a dozen games and keep them joint-top of the table.

“We scored early and I don’t know if that upset us or put us off our game, but we certainly weren’t at our best today,” McKinnon told BBC Scotland. “The character to win the game was very important.

“We probably dropped below what I expect from the guys in terms of on the ball, but certainly off the ball we worked extremely hard and that’s a real positive.”
