Dundee United defender Lee Wilkie will not make his debut against Aberdeen at Pittodrie tomorrow (Sat, Oct 21) after hurting his groin in training.
Wilkie, 26, is attempting to make his third comeback from cruciate ligament problems and has appeared several times for Dundee United’s reserve side after impressing on trial.
There were suggestions the former Dundee man would have played a part in the Aberdeen match after boss Craig Brewster sung his praises earlier in the week – and after the shambles of the 4-1 loss to Celtic at the weekend.
Meanwhile, Brewster has brushed off the attempted mind-games by Dons boss and former mentor Jimmy Calderwood.
Calderwood had claimed that anyone else but Brewster would have been sacked for winning just two league games out of 26 (see here).
However, Brewster said: ‘Jimmy does try and wind you up a bit in the other dug-out but I’m usually too focused on the game. I’ve got a lot of time for him but this is a game we really want to win.’
