Experienced defender Paul Quinn reckons the Scottish Cup tie at Aberdeen is a welcome break from the pressure of trying to return Dundee United back into the top-flight.

The Tangerines are travelling to Pittodrie in the fifth round of the competition for a 4.30pm kick-off on Sunday afternoon, having recently stumbled in their own promotion bid and then found their latest game postponed.

“We all came here to win the league first and foremost,” the former Dons centre-back admitted to BBC Scotland. “We all agreed the cups would be a timely break. A change of focus, whether they would be positive or negative.

“We’ll go there and try to win, and look forward to it,” he continued. “Their best chance of silverware is the Scottish Cup and maybe we can use that to our advantage, to play on their pressure.”
