Newcomer Chris Erskine is ready to prove he has what it takes at Dundee United.

The 26-year-old joined his new team-mates for pre-season training earlier this week ahead of a two-week European trip taking in games in Germany against FC Union of Berlin and Energie Cottbus, and Spain in opposition to CF Cordoba.

“United are a massive club and an established one in Scotland so it was always going to be a step-up coming here,” the former Partick Thistle midfielder admitted to the Dundee Courier. “I need to take it as it comes and just try to do my best. Obviously, I want to make an impression in my first season here so there is a wee bit of a point to prove coming from a lower league.

“It was great to meet the lads on Monday as it felt as though I had been off for ages,” he added. “We finished before the rest of the boys last season because we were in the First Division so I have been counting down the days to get back.”
