Dundee United?s bad run of fortune on the injury count continued with the announcement that Lee Miller has fractured his arm in Sundays 4-1 defeat against Rangers.

Along with the announcement that Derek Stillie had broken a bone on his finger in the same game and would probably be out also for the remainder of the campaign. This is really an announcement that manager Craig Brewster could have done without. Thankfully he does have cover in this area with young keeper Craig Samson. Who has had first team football this season already.

Lee played on throughout the second half carrying the injury as, although his arm was a bit sore, he didn?t think that he had broken it. After the game he had an X-ray and this confirmed the break. It is unsure the length of time that Miller will be out for but I would imagine that he will not return before the end of the season.

With both Jim McIntyre, Craig Brewster and Lee Miller all out due to injury, a position that was once thick with talent is now becoming a second string strike force. We may see some members of the United youth team getting a chance prior to the end of the season as Brewster looks for his best 11 despite these setbacks.

David Goodwillie has impressed in the reserves and I would hope that he would show the same rich vein of form in the first team. David has been good in the few minutes that we have seen him in and doesn?t seem overawed by the first team. We have to remember the lad is only 16 and we must not blood him in too soon.

Seems like you didn’t have the best of luck with injuries, but it happens to the best of clubs. You look as if you need everyone fit to improve your position next season.
