Dundee United midfielder Stuart Armstrong was remaining positive despite a disappointing end to the season.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a productive campaign in front of goal, netting eleven times and being nominated for the PFA Scotland young player of the year award.

But he also suffered a disappointing Scottish Cup final defeat to neighbours St Johnstone at Celtic Park, while also a member of the Scottish Under-21 side recently thrashed 6-1 by Holland.

“Obviously it is disappointing to end the season on such a low but that’s football and there are lots of ups and downs,” Armstrong told Press Association Sport, reports the Dundee Evening Telegraph. “A couple of games doesn’t make a season so overall I am very pleased with my contribution.

“It has been a tough season certainly, I have played a lot of games but overall I look back on the season and I’m pleased with how I did,” he added. “I scored more goals which I wanted to do.”
