Dundee United have been dealt a severe blow with midfielder Fraser Fyvie being ruled out for the remainder of the season.

The 24-year-old former Hibernian and Aberdeen schemer suffered a knee injury during their 3-0 weekend victory against Livingston.

A scan has since confirmed it as cruciate ligament damage, which usually requires at least six months on the sidelines.

The Tangerines next have a crucial top-of-the-table clash at St Mirren on Friday evening, and currently trail them by two points in the table but with a game in hand.
