Midfielder Morgaro Gomis hopes he has done enough to earn a place in Dundee United’s cup final squad against St Johnstone this weekend.

It follows the 28-year-old Senegalese international being handed a rare start in the final day defeat at league champions Celtic.

“I was delighted to get a start at Celtic Park playing on their big pitch,” Gomis told the Dundee Courier. “It has been a really hard season for me not playing a lot. Pates and Ranks [Paul Paton and John Rankin] have done really well though so I can’t really say much about it.

“They have a really good relationship when they play together, just like when I was playing with Prince [Buaben] when I was here before,” he continued. “It is not easy when you have competition like that. I just have to keep fighting for a place, working hard and see what happens.”
