Manager Ray McKinnon has praised midfielder Sam Stanton for his recent impressive performances despite not being able to properly train.

The on loan Hibernian playmaker hasn’t actually spent any time on the training pitch for the last three weeks due to the ongoing effects of an inflamed knee – something he’s had to continue to deal with.

“Sam has not been training because he has a knee problem,” McKinnon told the Dundee Courier. “Indeed, he has missed the last three weeks of training, just playing the games. He goes to the gym instead.

“There is a bit of inflammation on the knee,” he continued. “It is nothing too bad and we just have to manage it and make sure it doesn’t get worse. It is not ideal but he has been outstanding for us, he really has.”
