Filip Mentel is already feeling well at home at Dundee United despite only spending the past few days with his new colleagues.

The Slovakian and former Manchester City keeper signed a three-year deal with the Arabs last week before joining them for their pre-season trip to Austria.

“I feel as if I have been here for years – the Dundee United lads are like a real family,” he told the Daily Record.

“I was here for a week’s trial and that helped me settle in. The banter has been magic and it has been a good laugh. We have bonded so quickly.

“They have all been fantastic with me. I want to make a good impression at United and I’m fully focused on doing that this season,” Mentel continued.

“Things at Tannadice are different to Manchester City – but in a good way. United are a much smaller club and the atmosphere is more family orientated.”
