Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara complained at an unjust red card for defender Barry Douglas during the narrow 1-0 defeat at Ross County.

Douglas was dismissed following his 65th minute challenge on goalscorer Ivan Sproule as the visitors went down to a second straight reversal in Dingwall.

“It’s not a red card and it’s frustrating,” McNamara told BBC Scotland. “I didn’t even think it was a yellow card. He’s got the ball there and his momentum’s meant he’s followed through. But he’s made very little contact.

“I’m really disappointed with that. Obviously Ivan’s reaction doesn’t help the situation,” he continued. “They [the officials] said it was serious foul play. We’d just made a few changes at that point and it upsets the whole rhythm of the team.”
