Dundee United were expected to announce the dismissal of manager Ray McKinnon.

A second consecutive defeat to Inverness Caledonian Thistle at the weekend leaves them currently fourth in the table and five points behind leaders St Mirren.

McKinnon has been in charge since May 2016 and led United to the Championship play-off final last season while also securing them the Irn-Bru Cup.

However, they’ve won only half of their ten league games this time around.

Former Falkirk, Hibernian, Livingston, Inverness and Raith Rovers boss John Hughes is already the front-runner to replace him.

However, Jim McIntyre, Alan Stubbs, Stevie Aitken, Steven Pressley and ex-United chief Peter Houston are others who could be in the frame.
