Mark Kerr A Doubt For Pars Clash

Midfielder Mark Kerr is looking doubtful for Saturday’s crucial SPL clash with bottom of the table Dunfermline at Tannadice.

Kerr limped out of Dundee United’s 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock at half-time and he was sorely missed during the 2nd period, as Jim Jeffries side took complete control of the midfield and secured all 3 points with a 61st minute Peter Leven strike.

Dundee United will already be without club captain Barry Robson for the visit of Stephen Kenny’s new side, with Robson still to serve the final part of his 3 match suspension for breaking through the disciplinary points barrier in the 1st part of the campaign.

“The problem is with his (Mark Kerr’s) knee and we are not sure yet if it is just a kick or a strain,” Levein told the Courier.

“With Barry Robson still suspended for Dunfermline on Saturday, we don’t need Mark out.”

“Barry is the captain and a big influence in midfield, and next to him, in terms of experience, is Mark.”

“To be without both of them would be a problem, but hopefully it’s not going to come to that – if it does we will have to cope.”

Speaking after the 1-0 Rugby Park defeat last weekend, Levein admitted that losing Kerr at half-time was a major blow.

He said, “Mark going off certainly affected us. We lost his energy.”

With just a small squad at Tannadice, who is there to replace Kerr in midfield? Not anyone really?
