AEK Athens goalkeeper Sebastian Saja is the latest to write off Dundee United’s Europa League hopes ahead of the two clubs meeting later this month.

The Argentinian was delighted with the draw but claimed that losing to the Arabs would be a disaster as his club’s entire season was based upon a long run in the competition.

“This is a good draw for AEK. We should beat the Scottish side and qualify,” he told MailSport. “I always show respect to our rivals but I am very optimistic. We have a good squad and are capable of going far in Europe.

“We are clear favourites to go through,” Saja continued. “We want to make a big impact in Europe and it would be a disaster if we went out.”

He also admitted that he didn’t actually know much about his opponents: “Rangers and Celtic are the focal point of Scottish football and the other clubs are relatively unknown,” he added.

“After the draw was made none of the players was able to say too much about United.”
