Dundee United’s latest game at Motherwell was postponed after a sudden power failure at Fir Park.

Electricity services went down moments before the 3.00pm kick-off and the Lanarkshire club stated they had no alternative but to call-off the fixture.

“The problem is not in the stadium,” chief executive Leeann Dempster assured BBC Scotland. “There has been a major power failure in North Lanarkshire and we’ve been caught up in that.

“We are frustrated,” she added. “We have generators which give us emergency power, to enable us to evacuate the stadium, but it’s not enough to run a full match, I’m afraid.”
