Dundee United goalkeeper Dusan Pernis has had more than enough of the lifeless drone of the vuvuzela following his time spent in South Africa at the World Cup.

The Slovakian international is currently with his team-mates in Belfast as they prepare to take on Glentoran in their latest pre-season friendly today.

And he was counting on not having to be subjected to the tuneless blasting from the dreadful wind instrument that plagued world football’s showpiece event.

“Please, no more vuvuzelas ? I have had enough of them,” Pernis told The Courier. “I certainly hope there will be none at United’s matches next season. I want to get away from them.

“You could not hear the crowd cheering and instead it was just like listening to a giant bee,” he added. “It was buzz, buzz, buzz all the time.”
