Peter Houston has paid tribute to midfielder Danny Swanson following the weekend 2-2 draw with Motherwell in the Scottish Cup.

The Tangerines twice came from behind through leading scorer David Goodwillie and substitute Jon Daly to eventually earn themselves a replay. But it was the talented Swanson receiving his praises.

“Danny Swanson’s not played an awful lot of games this season, but his quality shone through,” Houston told BBC Scotland. “Some of it was sublime – his touches, his movement, his overall play and then it’s him who has made the run in behind and a dink over for Jon Daly to score.”

And Houston was remaining confident that the current Scottish Cup holders can finish the job at the second time of asking and earn a semi-final meeting with either Brechin City or St Johnstone.

“I fancy our chances at Motherwell, because we will have more players back,” he added. “We will have Garry Kenneth 100% fit and have Daly 100% fit and maybe others as well.

“Motherwell have come here and done a job and congratulations to them, they played quite well at times, but we look forward to Fir Park and feel we can go there and win.”
