Manager Peter Houston was pleased his Dundee United side finally managed a clean sheet in their weekend Tayside derby draw with St Johnstone.

That at least marked a significant improvement in terms of their defensive display after conceding an alarming nine goals during their previous three games.

“I thought we could’ve been more of a threat going forward,” Houston told BBC Radio Scotland. “We were a wee bit tentative going forward, but defensively I thought we were excellent. The positive to take is that we got a clean sheet.

“We’ve worked very, very hard on the shape of the team and I felt the shape of the team defensively was very good,” he added. “The back four on the whole was very good and they also got good protection from the middle of the park.”
