Peter Houston says that last season’s glorious Scottish Cup triumph must be forced to the back of everyone’s minds as he prepares for the big weekend kick-off.

The Arabs manager is keen to get the focus on the future rather than regularly looking back, while at the same time quietly working out exactly how his club can better their glorious exploits of last season.

A Hampden triumph and a third placing in the Scottish Premier League is certainly going to take some beating. But Houston will certainly be doing his absolute best in taking the club even further forward.

“We do have to put the cup victory to the back of our minds,” he told The Courier. “It is history now and it is my job to look ahead and think about what we are going to do in the new season.

“The expectations have gone higher because of what we achieved in finishing third in the league and winning the Scottish Cup. Of course it will be difficult to match or even better that.”
