Dundee United manager Peter Houston is already planning reinforcements ahead of David Goodwillie’s impending departure.

SPL champions Rangers and Blackburn Rovers are currently contesting his signature, with Rovers apparently in pole position after a £2.8m bid despite now four separate offers from the Glasgow club.

“I am just interested in making sure that he moves on now,” Houston told BBC Scotland immediately following the 1-0 victory at Hearts. “I’ve got a couple of players lined up to come up next week and hopefully we can get a couple nailed down.

“We will get Davie’s wages for starters,” he continued. “We need another striker and I’ve said all along saying that I need another centre-back – and I will try to push my luck and get another one.”

Meanwhile, Houston was naturally delighted to come away from Tynecastle with maximum points: “I thought Hearts were really good and we had to change our shape a wee bit,” he added. “To come to Tynecastle and get three points is magic.”
