Dundee United’s comfortable 5-0 victory at Raith Rovers in their latest pre-season friendly witnessed a welcome return of the ‘real’ Dundee United.

That was the verdict of their manager Peter Houston, who watched on a very contented figure at the response of his charges following their stuttering recent 1-1 draw at Glentoran.

“That was night and day from the weekend and I`m not talking about the goals we scored,” Houston told the Evening Telegraph.

“It was the effort and work rate that pleased me and, even by half-time, I told the players that was the real Dundee United.”

David Goodwillie scored twice and David Robertson, Prince Buaben and Sean Dillon were also on the mark.

The Arabs are again in action tonight in another friendly at Livingston.
